Details

We would like a new website for our organization.

We would like to work with students to develop a new website for us.

Students should be prepared to:

  • Conduct a needs analysis to determine which platform is most suitable
  • Create a design proposal including wireframes or low-fidelity mockups for our company's review.
  • Build a fully-functioning website, with our assistance in providing content and copy.
  • Provide training on updating and maintaining the site.
Deliverables

A fully-functioning website, with our assistance in providing content and copy. Content and Copy will be provided by already existing materials and newly developed content. Our current platform may be still suitable, however, an assessment of our website may be necessary to determine this.

Our website meets the needs of our donor audience and for this function, we would like to optimize the process for donors who visit our website. Although a large part of our focus, there are also other audiences we must consider. Audience categories include: Children, youth, families looking for services and programs and individuals and community leads who want to understand our alternative model of family based care. Another major focus in our work, is reconciliation and decolonization alignment and our work with Indigenous communities.

Mentorship

Students will connect directly with the employer for mentorship and supervision throughout the project. I am happy to make myself available as needed.

Who We Are: British Columbia is home to the only SOS Children’s Village in Canada and was
built in 2001 where 2.5 acres and 5 homes became the heart of SOS BC. SOS Children’s
Village BC is a community of belonging and provides a family-based model of care to improve
and sustain the quality of life for children who require alternative care. SOS BC holistically
enhances the development and healing of these children by addressing their physical, social,
emotional, and cultural needs. We actively create opportunities and programs for children to
become responsible and contributing members of society. We seek long term stability for the
children and families in our Village including a strong focus on transition to adulthood and family
reunification programming.
