A strong online presence is a key to unlocking new markets and building your customer base. Student consultants at Montclair State will help your company create meaningful content on LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Youtube, Snapchat, and now TikTok. In this project, a group of students will analyze your current social media presence and propose methods to strategically leverage these tools to achieve your goals.

Expected outcomes and deliverables

The final project deliverables will include:

  • A 30-minute presentation outlining the actionable recommendations for your organization's social media strategy.
  • A 5-10-page report identifying areas for improvement, as well as recommended solutions, and a detailed action plan. 
  • A package of five example social media posts on three different social media platforms, and accompanying content.

Timeline for Project Deliverables:

  1. Confirm your Riipen accounts via email. ASAP.
  2. Kick-off call must be completed by 04/10/20.(2.5 points)
  3. A brief 1-2 paragraph summary of the results of the company's social media audit. Due 4/17/20. (2.5 points)
  4. A 1-page outline of your presentation with just bullets and categories -- no details necessary. Please include the three social media platforms you will be focusing on for your project. Due 5/1/20. (5 points)
  5. Submit a mutually agreeable (company must also be in agreement) presentation date and time for the week of May 11-15. Due 5/4/20.

Project Examples

This course will take a deep dive into understanding content marketing and how to create effective and engaging content for social media platforms. We will also closely examine the role of search in content marketing, and dissect analytics software programs like Google Analytics. The goal is to help journalism students both understand and use social media to do six things but not limited to:

  • Conducting an audit of your current social media presence.
  • Create and publish content.
  • Connect with readers and viewers in new ways.
  • Conducting an assessment of the effectiveness of your current communication channel(s).
  • Bring attention to your work and traffic through social media.
  • Use these tools to create, craft and enhance your personal brand

Companies must answer the following questions to submit a match request to this experience:
