Research Assistant - Create Student Sample - UBC Professor Matt Lowe

The research assistants will support the research initiatives under the guidance of research faculty. They will have the opportunity to work with UBC Professor Matt Lowe (https://mattlowe.site/). Areas of inquiry include: behavioural economics, labour economics, microeconomics. Professor Lowe's research project hopes to understand the ways in which public figures utilize social media to reflect their values. Currently at the stage of data collection, we are looking for motivated, energized, and hard-working students to gain exposure to research and academia. This stage of the position requires skills in data retrieval and manipulation, along with strong organization and time management abilities. This stage will focus on building a sample of survey respondents . The project may include, but is not limited to: Participating in data collection, cleaning, managing, analysis and storage. Making use of knowledge on the North American academic system to build a sample of students. Attending triweekly meetings and contributing to study methodology and development. Our main goal here is to construct and analyze a high quality dataset on North American graduate students. Ability to work with spreadsheets is necessary, and some knowledge of Stata or R is helpful.

Development Resource for students

The VSE Career Centre is seeking students who are interested in Development Economics and connecting students with insights and opportunities in the field. We are looking for motivated, creative, and passionate students who can develop a resource that will help Economic students gain access to resources that will help them better understand Development Economics while offering access toΒ jobs, graduate studies (Pre-docs), and other resources. This project would require the student to collaborate with the Career Centre staff, other students, VSE professors, and outside connections to gather relevant resources.
