In this project, a group of students will analyze your current social media presence and propose methods to strategically leverage these tools to achieve your goals. Does your organization have an ethics challenge you want to tackle? Business professionals, unfamiliar with ethical inquiries, often find themselves struggling with ethical issues in such areas as finance, human resource management, marketing, and many other areas in business. Students will explore ethical theories from a multi-stakeholder approach and apply ethical reasoning to an issue facing your organization. They will analyze select readings and case studies to explore key ethical principles and the various ways in which business professionals and ethical theorists address issues that commonly arise in the business world. Upon completion of the project, you will receive a detailed report and presentation.
Early Childhood Education for Infants and Toddlers

Bring on one or more students from Coast Mountain College to be your virtual project team! Student-consultants will apply their knowledge in a variety of program models and approaches based on current theory and best practice. They will be prepared to dissect the developmental milestones and explore alternative ways to assess growth in the infant/toddler. These student-consultants come with a background that emphasizes ‘parent as the child’s first teacher’ reinforcing the supporting role of the educator in children’s care and education. These student-consultants will be able to provide practical strategies for designing learning environments specifically for infants and toddlers tailored to individual interests and developmental needs. They will be champions of the philosophy of family centered care and practice, and will be experienced in the development of resources and materials, repertoire of activities and experiences for infants and toddlers.

Building Organization-Political/Environmental/Social Movement Relationships

As a result of changing consumer expectations, organizations are being drawn into supporting or not supporting movements for political, environmental and social change based on the perception of the organization’s brand with consumers. Given the reputational risk involved with being on the “wrong side” of a movement or issue for social change, organizations are increasingly in need of understanding the foundations, theories, and stages of social, environmental and political movements. This project will involve 8-10 students registered in a political studies course dealing with the international economic system, global economic development, international relations issues such as population growth, environmental problems, disparities of wealth and resources, civic activism, the struggle for and against globalization, and advocacy.

Attracting talent is challenging enough, so what are you doing to retain your talent? In order to retain talent, your organization must have a robust training and development program. In this project, students will apply current theory and practice for employee training and development within an organizational setting. Students will examine a full spectrum of training and development praxis, from basic on-the-job training to the use of technology and blended approaches to corporate training, development and succession planning. Upon completion of the project, you will receive a detailed report and presentation.

Are your organization's human resources management (HRM) practices up to date? Would you like to explore how to improve your HRM in our current and changing landscape? In this project, students will apply their knowledge of HRM techniques and procedures to your organizational context. They can assess a number areas such as staffing and maintenance of an efficient workforce, human resources (HR) in organizations, workforce planning, job analysis and evaluation, wage and salary administration, training and development, and performance evaluation systems. Specific attention will paid the areas most relevant to your organization's needs. Upon completion of the project, you will receive a detailed report and presentation.

Would you like to improve the quality of candidates coming into your organization? Do you want to revamp your recruitment and selection process? Students will apply current theories and practices in recruitment and selection to your organization's context. Areas that might be addressed include recruitment theory and practice in the private and public sectors, professional and legal requirements, candidate screening, candidate testing, and interviewing methodology. In order to promote inclusive curriculum, an examination of current practice for recruitment and selection of Indigenous staff is integrated into this course. This course is an introductory business law course in which students will learn and apply legal concepts important in business. This includes learning about the legal aspects of relationships which are formed while business is conducted, including the formation of contracts, law of torts, consumer protection, employee relations, and dealings with partners and shareholders. Other important aspects which affect businesses, including real property, intellectual property, the form of the business, and creditors' remedies, are also discussed. Companies who require support/research surrounding how legislation affects their organization would be best suited for our students.
